Exploring my new home from afar...

I know that I will be working in the Paga-Navrongo area in the Upper East Region of Ghana and so I took some time this past weekend to explore my new home from afar and draw a map to illustrate where I will be.

Below, I have included some of the links I have found throughout my search.

Taking the first step into a year of new experiences

As of today, I am officially going to Ghana with Engineers Without Borders starting this upcoming March.  It is quite late now,  and I am very tired but hopeful and energetic as I start a new chapter in my life doing something that I have always wanted to explore: international development work.

After two failed attempts at writing blogs, this is a foray into unexplored territory for me and while I am a bit anxious, I am also excited to learn more about blogging as I go along.  To start, I have decided to write a post on the first day of my pre-departure preparations with the intention of posting regularly hereafter.  Perhaps, the layout of the blog will change a bit, but I make a commitment here and now to focus more on the content than the design.

The next few days will be filled with getting everything packed up in my apartment and going through all the administrative and logistical exercises to make sure that all my affairs are properly taken care of here in Canada before I leave.

I hope that by blogging, I will be able to allow many people to share in the experiences I will have throughout this upcoming year.  I look forward to reading all your comments, and just want to encourage you to speak (write) your mind freely.

Let's have a great journey together!
